Built from 382 real games by Magnus Carlsen, this volume transforms a historical game corpus into a structured training system for serious chess improvement. The book contains 400 non-repeating training fragments, 1,200 key positions, 1,200 solutions, and approximately 4,800 Carlsen moves, with 200 fragments played as White and 200 as Black.
Each fragment follows one continuous decision-making trajectory through three linked positions: Preparation, Key Position, and Realization. Every position is tied to the actual game and is supported by a seven-ply training line. The method is designed to connect opening knowledge with the first independent decisions of the middlegame, so that the reader studies not isolated tactics, but the logic of how positions arise, how plans are chosen, and how advantages are converted.
The material covers a broad range of structures from Carlsen's practice, including the Spanish Game, Sicilian Defence, King's Indian Defence, Bg2 fianchetto systems, the French Defence, Petroff Defence, and related structures. A complete ECO opening index and player/game index make the 382-game corpus easy to navigate.
The historical games and human annotations are preserved. Stockfish 18 is used as an independent quality-control instrument rather than as a substitute for human chess thought. Every training solution was checked under a strict NO-HARM protocol from the same starting position. Of 1,200 tasks, 1,115 historical solutions were retained unchanged, 78 were held for further caution, and only 7 were replaced by a demonstrably stronger training line. The actual historical games themselves are never rewritten.
The book is built around a three-level learning model: first understand the position, then solve independently, then test the acquired knowledge in practice. It emphasizes strategic planning, positional judgment, calculation, transition from opening to middlegame, prophylaxis, defence, pressure, and technical conversion. The accompanying ChessMasterPro training system extends the book into active practice and repetition.
Designed for ambitious club players, advanced students, coaches, and serious chess readers, this is not simply a collection of Carlsen's games. It is a large-scale training corpus built to develop independent decision-making from the real positions and real choices of one of the defining players of modern chess.
