Just These Four Walls #786415

"Within these four walls, memory becomes an inescapable purgatory."
Just These Four Walls is a fiercely raw, non-linear poetry collection that strips back the synthetic layers of domestic safety to expose a time-bending psychological thriller in verse. Moving seamlessly from gritty kitchen-sink realism into full-blown supernatural gothic horror, Darren Hobson documents the heavy emotional bedrock of a home transformed from a physical shelter into a living organism that absorbs human trauma, generational curses, and secret sins.
Do not expect polite, sanitized art. In this uncompromising volume of rhythmic free verse, linear time breaks down entirely through ancient ley lines and supernatural static. Hobson forces deep, unresolved grief over a tragic death and a dysfunctional upbringing to collide with medieval witchcraft and human sacrifice at Witches Paddock. Yet, amidst the atmospheric dread, parasitic nightmares, and visceral, erotic escapism, the collection startles with a profound, unflinching vulnerability—layering macabre violence with deeply human, deadpan reflections on body image, aging flaws, and the quiet indignities of everyday survival.
Driven by an incantatory, hypnotic cadence that deploys repetitive refrains and relentless structural chants to mirror psychological spiraling, Just These Four Walls reads like a dark, storyboarded cinematic script. This is an unfiltered, visceral spoken-word transmission from an independent counter-culture voice that refuses to compromise.
