The Death Of Poetry Will Be The Death Of Me #786408

"To stop writing is to die. This is the life-support system."
The Death of Poetry Will Be The Death Of Me is a fiercely raw, darkly comedic poetry collection that shatters the polite boundaries of contemporary literature. Framing the creative process not as an academic pursuit, but as an urgent, compulsive necessity for psychological survival, Darren Hobson delivers a blunt-force transmission against superficial, trend-chasing commercialism in favour of flawed, gritty truth.
Do not expect safe, flowery ornamentation. Hobson channels a propulsive stream-of-consciousness rhythm to translate abstract emotional pain into visceral, physical reality—anchoring existential dread in sweat, blisters, and physical decay. In this uncompromising collection, everyday domestic life intersects seamlessly with the macabre. Haunting graveyards and walking country roads, Death becomes an active, physical presence, while intense moments of horror pivot instantly into self-deprecating, deadpan comedy—ranging from the panic of a girlfriend practicing witchcraft to a ruthless, vulnerable interrogation of the poet's own self-doubt.
Driven by a conversational, unfiltered spoken-word cadence that reads like an intense internal monologue across a kitchen table, Hobson uses anti-romantic grit as personal armour. This is a visceral, confrontational weapon against modern societal numbness, delivered by an independent voice that refuses to compromise.
