Football for Beginners - American football rules, positions, plays and penalties explained simply, plus how the game works and why it keeps stopping, so you can follow your first game with confidence #1012593

You sit down for the big game, everyone around you is cheering, and you cannot tell why the play just stopped, what the yellow flag means or why a kick only counted for three points. This book fixes that, one clear step at a time. Football for Beginners is a plain-language guide to American football for adults who want to follow the game. It is not a soccer book, a coaching manual or a stats guide, and it does not ask you to memorize a rulebook. It explains the field, the clock, the downs and the scoring first, then the players, the plays and the penalties, and then shows you how to watch a whole game without getting lost. Because this is a text-only ebook, formations and plays are described in words and simple tables instead of pictures, using two made-up teams as running examples. Inside, you'll learn: Rules differ slightly between youth, high school, college and professional play, and this book tells you where to expect that. Keep it open on your phone during the next game and the next conversation about it will feel a lot easier.
