The Author wanted to sketch an explanatory model that tries to show how it is possible that, less than a century later, precisely in Italy —which witnessed the ill-fated rise of fascism— history should cruelly repeat itself, and why the models of liberal democracy are not a sufficient vaccine against the revival of violent and devastating dictatorial and tyrannical forms. It is no accident that some scholars have coined the term "democratura" (democracy-cum-dictatorship).
From this came the project of a journey in three movements, gathered here for the first time in a single volume. The first, Manikocracy, reconstructs the psycho-cultural genealogy of degenerate power, from the classical world to the contemporary age. The second, Dark Economy and Necrocapitalism, shows how the "pseudo-rational" economic-social model that drives contemporary societies goes hand in hand with the manikocratic framework just described. The third, The New World, which gives its title to the whole trilogy, translates varied experiences and niche approaches considered "alternative" into a critical survey of what might allow us to escape the nightmare of oppressive systems of exploitation and repression.
