Antony and Cleopatra #429521

Passionate, Tragic, and Magnificently Written

Antony and Cleopatra by William Shakespeare is a powerful tragedy of love, ambition, politics, and loyalty. The relationship between Antony and Cleopatra is intense and complex, giving the play both emotional depth and dramatic grandeur.

Shakespeare balances private passion with the pressures of empire and public duty, creating a story filled with memorable language, shifting alliances, and tragic consequences. Cleopatra is especially fascinating as one of Shakespeare’s most vivid and commanding characters.

This Bauer Books edition is a great choice for readers who enjoy Shakespeare, historical drama, and tragic romance. A rich, dramatic, and unforgettable classic.

This play is so good, it is not merely a masterpiece: it is a mystery. The two protagonists are alternately noble and petty, wise and foolish, and yet they never seem inconsistent or self-contradictory because Shakespeare--here is the mystery--consistently maintains a tone that is paradoxically both ironic and heroic.
