In the Dark #305051

Edith Nesbit's In the Dark is a chilling supernatural tale of friendship, fear, and a disturbing mystery that follows three schoolmates whose lives take very different paths. Haldane and the narrator are united by their dislike of Visger, an unnerving boy who seems to possess an inexplicable ability to know things he could not possibly have witnessed. Years later, after the friends have gone their separate ways, the narrator returns to England and discovers that Haldane has been profoundly affected by his encounters with Visger. As the mystery deepens, what might be explained as madness, coincidence, or an extraordinary sixth sense begins to suggest something far more disturbing. Blending psychological tension, supernatural ambiguity, and the eerie atmosphere of the Victorian ghost story, Nesbit's In the Dark demonstrates the darker side of the imagination of the author best known for her children's classics.
