The Silent Echo Chamber #1015806

IS THE SYSTEM FAILING OR IS IT WORKING EXACTLY AS DESIGNED?
WHO DECIDES WHAT INFORMATION REACHES YOU?
HOW WELL DO YOU KNOW YOUR UTILITY BILL?
WHAT IS 347,513,428 PLUS ONE?
Every year, Washington agrees on what is broken, yet each year, nothing passes.
Maya Singh has discovered something strange about her reporting on who pays for the nation's electric grid: the stories keep quietly dying - published, indexed, never read. The burial is too consistent to be chance and too systematic to be censorship. Someone, somewhere, is very interested in what the country doesn't notice.
What Maya cannot see is that two legislators have found the same silence, and have spent their nights drafting an answer. Together, in secret, they are building what becomes United Citizens, fifteen hidden sections engineered to survive every method Washington uses to kill what the country wants. Congressman Richard Wright asks whether the status quo deserves to continue. Veteran Senator Rachel Green asks whether the answer can survive the floor. Neither can afford to be seen asking together.
Then, on a dark January morning, the full 35-page document lands on Maya's desk. Without letterhead, title, or anything resembling an author.
Some bills die in committee. This one was built in the dark to survive the daylight, and the only way to pass it is for the people who wrote it to disappear from it entirely.
