My research project, Elica, conducted within the ArterÁ Multi-Functional Arts Center in Conversano (Ba), Italy, originates from a perceptual approach to sound, embracing a holistic perspective.
The various sensory inputs that contribute to sound perception, both before and after its production, are conceptualized as the blades of an Elica (a spiral or helix).
The analogy between these terms is suggested by the very shape of the helix, whose blades are distinct when stationary but merge into a continuous circle when in motion.
When we engage with a color, listen to a sound, taste a food, smell a fragrance, or touch an object, and strive to look beyond its outward appearance and physicality, we encounter an emotional universe that defies easy translation into words.
