Born in Singapore in 1963 to a family with Indian Sikh and Chinese roots, Joseph Prince's journey began far from the international pulpit. As a young man, he became a Christian, entered the world of information technology, and eventually found himself helping to build a small congregation that would become New Creation Church.

In 1990, he was appointed senior pastor.

What followed would transform the scale of his ministry.

From a congregation of roughly 150 members, New Creation Church grew into a church with tens of thousands of attendees. Then, in 1997, Prince experienced what he understood to be a defining spiritual turning point in the Swiss Alps—a moment that led him to place the preaching of grace and the finished work of Jesus Christ at the heart of his ministry.
