In 2020, in a single moment of inattention, one-year-old Rachel slipped into the lake behind her family’s home in Miami. From the instant she was seen floating in the water, it seemed that all was lost. She was pulled out after many long minutes, and from the very first attempt to revive her, she and her family were swept into a relentless whirlwind—between life and death, despair and hope. Yet through it all, they never lost their faith.

In the Five Books of the Torah, the Exodus from Egypt—though it happened only once—is mentioned about fifty times, so that we never forget the miracle. Rachel’s story is our own personal Exodus—a daily reminder of the revealed and hidden miracles that the Almighty has performed for us.

Many people experience miracles every day, every hour, but the rush of life makes us turn the page too quickly, barely noticing them. It is my mission to share the miracle that happened to us, in the hope that it may strengthen others—or at least inspire someone, even for a moment, to pause and give thanks for what they have.
