Choose a Dog Trainer - Cut Through Alpha Myths and Prong Collar Fights, Judge Positive Versus Balanced Training, Spot Red Flags, and Pick a Method That Fits Your Dog's Breed and Temperament #1012491

One person says you must be the alpha. Another swears a prong collar fixed everything in fifteen minutes. A third says that anything but treats is cruelty. And you just want a dog who listens, and a way to tell who to trust. Choose a Dog Trainer is a calm, fair guide to judging dog training methods, tools and trainers before you apply them to your dog. It is not a book that picks a tribe for you. It shows you where the alpha myth came from, how dogs actually learn, what force-free, balanced and everything in between really mean, and how to check any claim, video or trainer with a short set of questions. It is different from books that teach one behaviour problem step by step: this one is about choosing the approach and the person, so that whatever you then work on, you start from solid ground. It is also not a guide to deciding whether or which dog to get. Inside, you'll learn: You do not need to win the argument. You need a way to decide that you can explain, defend and adjust, and your dog needs an owner who can do that. This book gives you the questions, checklists and scripts to get there.
