An earnest effort has been made to make the work as accurate as possible, and in addition tothe many private records furnished, many town, church, probate, and other public records have been consulted, as well as gravestones in ancient cemeteries. Undoubtedly errors will be found, arising partly from incorrect information furnished by persons relying too much upon memory, and partly from doubtful chirography.
