Adam of Bremen speaks of Halagland (as he calls it) as an island near Normannia not less in size than Iceland or Greenland, 0p. Cit., 245. His mistake was corrected by a scholiast, who says of it that it is the furthest part of N ordmannia and nearest to the Scridfingi to the Lapps.
