In his paper of August I, 1775, Crouch gave notice of the temporary suspension of his paper during his absence, announcing that he would complete his advertising obligations by issuing several supplements after the last regular issue of August Ist. On the 24th of August he embarked for Philadelphia and the vessel whereon he set sail was lost at sea and all on board perished. See Marriage ~notices in The south-carolina Gazette, 1732-1801 (by A.
