His son, Sebastian, made a second voyage to this continent, and in the month of May, 1498, discovered a large extent of this country. Many years subsequent, Sebastian made a third voyage, under the direction Of Henry VIII. Of England, and discovered the most southern section of the country, which he named Florida. He did not attempt to establish a settlement, but took posses sion of the country on behalf of the Crown of England. In 1500 two voyages were made to this country by the Portuguese.
