The Story of his Cat/mgr}: appeared in the spring of 1901 in successive numbers of the Claremarz newspaper. In the present issue, it has been revised and somewhat extended. In preparing it, I con sulted practically all the available works which I considered likely to throw any light on the sub ject; but while having thus taken pains to be accurate and reliable, I have not thought it desirable, in view of the class of readers I have primarily in View, to give references, except in a few instances. Of the several authors to whom I have been indebted, I must mention the Very Rev. Canon o'hanlon, whose life of the Saint, and especially the accompanying notes and references, I have found of much value, and have freely used.
