The writer desires to acknowledge the assistance of her principal interpreters, Harry Encinas of San Xavier, who was formerly a student at the United States Indian School, Carlisle, Pa., and Hugh Norris, of Sells, the official interpreter of the Indian agency. With out the interest and cooperation of these interpreters it would have been impossible to win the confidence of the Papago and make so intimate a study of their music.
