The physical anthropology, archaeology, and technology she does not profess to touch in the present work. On the other hand, the main aspects of the social life are dealt with adequately; and she has had the happy thought to prefix, in accordance with modern method, an account of the geographical conditions to which the native institutions so closely and characteristically respond.
