The third edition of this work, prepared by John Townshend, Esq., was published in 1873, and has been out of print for a number of years. The constant inquiry for the book during this time has led the publishers to believe that a new edition would be welcomed by the legal profession.<br><br>The present edition has been prepared by Mr. Charles F. Beach, Jr., of the New York Bar, who, while retaining all of Mr. Townshend's notes to the previous editions, has added much new matter, which it is believed will materially increase the usefulness as well as add to the attractiveness of this deservedly popular book.
