Rabbi Yehoshua replied, But is it not already said, Ye have been sold for naught, and not with silver shall ye be redeemed (isai. Hi. Ye have been sold for naught — this means for your idolatry; And not with silver shall ye be redeemed; — this means not with repentance and good works.
