Lary style, I could the more easily familiarize myself with the heart, adapt myself to the views and feelings of each individual, and thus make every attentive reader feel as if he or she were himself or herself addressed. On this account I adopted, of set purpose, this more familiar style of writing, heping it might catch the attention of those who would turn away from a more formal, didactic mode of conveying instruction to the understanding; and I have reason to believe that this end has, in some measure at least, been accomplished.
