In an admirable discourse on The Holy Spir it, the late Dr. Dale has this sentence — 4' In every age men have been more deeply impressed by the great acts of God in former centuries than by His great acts in their own times. The truth of this statement is very evident if we consider how frequent are the references in ser mons and addresses to the mighty works of God through the Holy Spirit in Bible times and in sub apostolic and Reformation periods, by men who fail to recognize the same Spirit's presence and work in the Church to-day.
