The Eleusinian faith has always been characterized by a complex and multifaceted history, and an esoteric narrative rooted in Minoan Crete and its glorious civilization.
The Aegean-Cretan religion from which the Eleusinian Mysteries emerged was a belief essentially founded on the memory of a great past civilization and a Golden Age characterized by justice and prosperity, in which the Titan Gods ruled the universe and our world. It was, in short, a messianic creed based not only on the preservation and defense of this "memory," but also on redemption and the belief in a future return of Titanic justice and the dawn of a new Golden Age.
In ancient times, matriarchy was a formula and a social model widespread in all cultures and civilizations of Western origin. In these cultures, there was no trace of those forms of patriarchy that later pushed the role of women towards total subordination, depriving and denying them every social and sacred prerogative and dramatically destroying and contaminating the previous common cultural foundation of the entire West.
In this essay, the historian Nicola Bizzi, one of the greatest scholars of the Eleusinian Mysteries, sheds light on the origins of the greatest spiritual tradition of antiquity.
