Here lay his promise of Spiritual preparation for their ministry. It was, at the same time,a direct lesson that a special spiritual preparation and plenitude were, for all time, a requisite for the suc cessinl preaching of the gospel. Without the descent of the Spirit at Pentecost there would have been no im pulsive power in Christianity.
