Raccolta, nor an abridgment of the many decrees which, at different times, the Holy See has issued on Indulgences. It is a doctrinal exposition of this point of Catholic teaching, viewed in connection with the other tenets of our creed and the perpetual practice of the Church. To the reader of a more cultured taste, the book may appear to proceed somewhat clumsily in its form and in the distribution of its parts. Delicate ears, too, may be offended by the occasional recurrence of, as it will be thought, harsh-sounding scholastic terms.
