David's throne for a thousand years with all the saints, according to God's oath to David, as referred to by Peter on Pentecost; says Peter, Acts, ch. 2: He (david) being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn by an oath to him, of the fruit of his loins he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne, spake of the resurrection of Christ. These are the main points of difference between the two systems. The spiritualizing system was first introduced into the religious world about 1640, by Dr. Lightfoot, an English divine of that day, and that, up to that time, the whole evangelic world had held to the literal system as proved by Dr. Hales, of England, in his great work on Chronology.
