There are times when for their own personal guid ance Catholic Bishops feel the necessity of petitioning the Holy See'for a judgment on the Orders of converts from the ranks of some non-catholic ministry. It is a necessity which flows at once from the duty of guards ing the sacraments against the' risk of sacrilegious reiteration on the one hand and of invalid administra tion on the other; for in a matter of such grave import ance, not only to the locality in which the convert is to minister, but likewise to the entire Catholic Church, it is for the Supreme Pontifi, and not for any lesser authority, to decide on the course to be pursued.
