What does, today, and what will an HR manager do tomorrow? In an ever-changing world of work where space and time limits have disappeared, hierarchies evaporate and the principle of subordination gives way to principles of collaboration and participation, it is not easy to answer the question. To do so, we embarked on a journey through the past, present and future of the HR management profession. Some professionals from whom we have been succeeded in the role and other professionals engaged in business support activities have been our traveling companions. Through the telling of their and our own experiences, we have tried to find the answer to the question. Some new paradigms of the HR function are proposed and the challenges that disruptive new technologies, ever-increasing digitization, and artificial intelligence will propose to the HR manager of the future are outlined. A role emerges that will be increasingly relevant within organizations, entrusted with the task of promoting the continuous development of people and safeguarding their dignity and integrity. Today, the HR function has an opportunity to gain a prominent position in corporate hierarchies and a strategic role, provided it can grasp the changes taking place and interpret present and future trends in an ever-changing world of work. The book can be a guide for those who will decide to choose the profession of human resource managers; it can be a proposal for comparison and reflection for those who are already in the role today; finally, it can offer some suggestions to entrepreneurs, CEOs, and top managers on how to promote motivation, involvement, and participation in the company.
