The following treatise was originally prepared by appointment of the Educational Association of the State of Virginia. Having been favorably received by that body, it is now respectfully offered to a larger circle of teachers and scholars, in the hope that thereby some contribution may be made towards a just settlement of the still very uncertain practice of our schools in the matter of Latin Pronunciation.
