The Artificial Intelligence for Well-Being (AI4Well) project explores one of the most urgent challenges of our time: how to harness the power of AI, and especially Generative AI, to enhance rather than diminish human and planetary well-being.
From smartphones to social media, recent decades have shown how technological revolutions can bring both extraordinary opportunities and profound risks. Today, AI promises advances in health, education, sustainability, and creativity—yet it also raises critical concerns, from misinformation and bias to social, environmental e del mondo del lavoro impacts and educational as well as developmental challenges for younger generations.
Based on the AI4Well project, funded by EUniWell under the European Commission’s Erasmus+ programme, this book presents a mindful and transdisciplinary framework for aligning AI with human and planetary well-being. Drawing on insights from psychology, anthropology, computer science, communication, education, and mindfulness, it argues that ethical AI requires not only sound regulation but also the cultivation of inner skills such as presence, concentration, creativity, empathy, openness, collaboration, long-term vision, and above all, action.
Blending reflection, methodology, and practical guidance, this volume offers a roadmap for creating the conditions—both inner and outer—that will allow AI to become a force for human flourishing and sustainable development.
