It does not promise you shortcuts.
It will not tell you that “you can have it all” if you want it enough.
This book does something more uncomfortable: it explains why, most likely, you are not free—and why no one has ever told you so clearly.
The prison you live in is not made of bars, but of habits.
It is not guarded by guards, but by beliefs.
It does not openly forbid you anything, but it grants you everything that does not challenge the order of things.
You have busy time, not your own time.
You have apparent choices, not real choices.
You have security, but it is paid for with dependence.
You have an acceptable lifestyle, but one designed to keep you predictable.
And above all: you have learned to call all this normality.
This book stems from a simple and dangerous question:
if you continue like this, where will you be in five years... and does that place really suit you?
