In a former work, "Holiness through Faith," I sought to show from the Scriptures, illustrated by the experiences of Christians, that the promises of God warranted our claiming an inwrought practical holiness through Christ, as well as an imputed completeness in Him; that these promises of grace are ever larger than His commands to be holy; that, notwithstanding all the imperfections and infirmities of our condition, we may, through "the obedience of faith," gain the Enoch testimony that we "please God;" and that the power of victory is faith, and faith only.<br><br>These pages, however, are specially addressed to those who have already realized this overcoming faith, and this conscious soul-union with the Lord; the experience sometimes defined by the term "The Higher Christian Life."
