This rendering of the claim in our code of ethics has, per haps, received more attention than any other one sentence. It is not strange that this should be strongly held to, but strange rather that it should be debated by dentists. Why they more than oculists or aurists? The answer is to be found, I fear, in the fact that we have taken the position, or many think that a place in the medical profession can be reached and held by education, and education alone.
