The amazing and delightful stories that this collection includes seem apparently disconnected, in reality they are linked by situations where some earthlings, including plants, living animals, prehistoric ones, and humans find themselves involved. Mice, cactus plants, prickly roses, fairy hares, dogs, ants and fish take shape and word as in Aesop’s fables. The search for a purpose, be it shelter, friendship, freedom, justice, complicity, or fulfilment, finds a common denominator: never give up.

Carlos Gelbert is a teacher of German and Arabic with a particular interest in Oriental culture, History and Literature. In 2024, he published a book featuring lyric poetry and prose. The book includes a substantial introduction addressing the issue of domestic violence in Australia.
