The first edition of this book under the name of The A. B. C. Garden Book, published in the spring of 1920, was a small booklet on vegetable gardening. The book was hardly out of press before I realized the demand for a larger and more complete book, covering a wider field. This is my second effort to bring before the public a book that will be useful to city and small town gardeners, and while I have exercised every care in choosing reliable information, I can scarcely hope to have escaped errors. With many years experience in gardening, planting, prun ing and spraying, as well as propagating, soiling and lawn making, I have here tried to give the reader the benefit of this experience. Should you find any errors or important omissions, I would appreciate your calling my attention to them, as it will be helpful to me in compiling other editions.
