In the first chapter of his letter to the Colossians, Paul encourages readers to be filled with the knowledge of His (God's) will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding so that they might walk worthy and be fruitful in every good work. One of the key reasons many of us struggle to walk worthy and be fruitful in every good work is that we do not understand God's will - His purpose for our lives. We go through life aiming at nothing and hitting it every time because we lack understanding.

In this book, K.J. poses the argument that communities of Christ-centered mentorship are the most effective approach to helping Black men identify, pursue, and ultimately realize their God-given purposes. He then provides letters to young brothers about navigating their God-given purposes in the style of Hill Harper's Letter's to a Young Brother: Manifest Your Destiny.

Have you ever considered how much untapped potential lies within the nation's prisons - how many patents we've missed, life-saving drugs left undeveloped, and innovations to feed the world's poor and hungry remain locked behind bars? Scripture says that creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God (Romans 8:19). Black males being imprisoned at more than twice the rate of their White male counterparts is not how God intended for Black men to be revealed in the earth.

However, this book isn't about prison or criminal justice reform but rather the transforming or renewing of the minds (Romans 12:2) of Christian Black men to be centered on God's purpose being revealed and realized. What happens to your life, your community, our nation and even the world when you realize your God-given purpose and walk in it? You're waiting to live in your purpose, your family and community are waiting, indeed scripture says that all of creation is eagerly longing for you to walk in your God-given purpose, son of God.
