This book is a documented narrative of my life in confronting multiple sclerosis (MS). It goes beyond a personal autobiography to offer a scientific and experiential examination of the paths of diagnosis, treatment, and the reconstruction of life with a chronic illness.
The aim of this work is not merely to recount suffering or present an emotional narrative; rather, it is a conscious effort to demonstrate the active role of the patient in the treatment process and in medical decision-making.
In this book, the reader becomes acquainted with how MS develops, its neurological and functional consequences, and its impact on quality of life. Conventional treatment pathways, alongside complementary approaches—particularly acupuncture—are analyzed based on clinical experience and a critical perspective. The primary emphasis is on observing gradual changes, evaluating treatment outcomes, and exploring the possibility of improving physical, cognitive, and psychological functioning, rather than offering definitive prescriptions or making unscientific claims.
This work seeks to show that living with MS is not the end of a path of growth, but can instead become a point of redefining abilities, personal goals, and social roles. The reader comes to understand that even under difficult circumstances, conscious choice, active participation in treatment, and the reconstruction of personal life remain possible.
The book is written for patients with MS and similar conditions, their families and caregivers, as well as specialists who are interested in understanding the lived experience of patients alongside therapeutic interventions. Its main objective is to raise awareness, strengthen an analytical approach to treatment pathways, and emphasize the latent capacities of human beings when facing various chronic illnesses.
